A request...
In the aftermath of my mother's death, I was thinking about Gracie and how crazy Mom was about her. I seriously doubt Gracie will be able to remember her, so I was hoping I could get people to come here and post a story or two in the comments section, especially anything about Mom's reaction to Gracie. I've written down what I knew of (including the time during my pregnancy that Mom missed her freeway exit because she was gleefully yelling "BAAAAAAAABY baby baby baby!") So if anybody has anything they want to add, that would be very much appreciated; I'm planning to print them out and add them to Gracie's baby book.

Trudies Favorite and Least Liked Foods

Her favorite beverage was hot tea. She always wanted hot tea in the morning.

Her favorite meat was most any thing seafood with a strong preference for shrimp, scallops, or salmon.

Her favorite vegetable was asparagus. She grew some in the garden back when we lived in Columbia. She also liked fresh okra which we also grew in Columbia. I also heard that she tried to grow some in Grayson but the "deer" [Avery] kept stripping the plants before Trudie could harvest them. (It's ok, Avery. The statute of limitations has expired.)

Her favorite dessert was tiramisu. We made that a few times but it was so labor-intensive, we usually just dished out ice cream :-}. She also served a white grape and sour cream/brown sugar dish that was yummy.

Her least favorite food was anything prepared with Campbell's soup as an ingredient. Her second least favorite was any canned vegetable.

Her favorite "adult" beverage was most any wine. She didn't care for much hard drinks but when stressed, a screw driver helped her out a lot. She hated beer.

She also really liked my Grandma Hurt's Chicken and Dumplins that I make. Partly because they are good and partly because she liked it when she didn't have do the cooking.
